Hairdryers make my hair incurable frizzy and poofy, which my gel and straightener cannot cure. Air drying is best for my hair, but who has time to wait for their hair to dry before styling it? I saw at Walmart a straightener that claims you can use it when your hair is wet, and that is "steam dries" your hair. Can anyone tell me if they work? The one at Walmart was only $23 - do only the more expensive ones work? Thanks to anyone who can answer this for me!!

I advise you to STAY AWAY from the wet to straight flat irons, unless it's a CHI or Solano or one of those high end straighteners. I say this based on experience. I purchased a wet to straight hair straightener in Sally's that wasn't really expensive and thought it would be really convenient but it's SO damaging to the hair!! It's really worth the investment if you buy the CHI (the one I have now) because it works like a charm. I have extremely curly, thick, frizzy hair and it's basically what I like to call "the wildebeast attached to my head."
So...now that I have the CHI I can straighten my hair in about 15 mins (20 tops, if it's really humid). Which is a HUGE upgrade from spending years of blow drying and then using irons and having it take 45 mins to an hour. SO worth it. And the CHI leaves my hair soft and shiny. It's also newer technology so it's not damaging the ends. Heat of any kind is going to do damage of some kind, but it's not anywhere close to the kind of breakage my hair had to endure from my previous wet-to-straight iron. Also, be sure to use heat protective styling lotions / products beforehand while your hair is wet. (I like using Aveda Smooth Infusion and Aveda Hang Straight).

actually, i think if u use a straightener when your hair is wet that it burns its, and makes it thinner than thin. the heat is more damaging to your hair, though. the thinness you can take care of.

I have a cheap one, it works really good its conair....on the side theres hole where steam comes out from ure hair water....i recommend it

No Dude..it works..i think i have the one you're talking about..the remmington wet2straight? yeah it works miracles..but you have to go over the piece of hair youre straightening a few times to get it dry straight and fly-away free..but its a GREAT straightener!

definitely do NOT straighten your hair when it's wet, no matter what the product claims it does. Besides, you found it at Wal*Mart... that's probably the worst place to buy any products

No no no no no no no no! Please don't ever use a hair straightener while your hair is wet, only when hair is 100% dry.
If you straighten your hair while it is wet, it will be even more frizzier it will turn dry and damaged.. Also Walmart hair straighteners work, but if you have frizzy hair, then atleast buy a 50$ dollar one, but never a wet2straight hair straightener.

I have been doing hair for a long time and I would never put an iron to wet hair, the steam will burn you so bad, My opinion is I dont see how that would work without burning your scalp, even if you blow dry it and its frizzy and use a good flat iron or a press comb and use some serum in it all the frizz should turn straight and shinny.

try going to a hair salon or beauty store, they know whats best for your hair, and they suggest very good brands that i'm sure will work for you. As for the wal-mart straightener, it's pretty cheap to work very well, but that's your decision. Hope you like my answer: )

Okay. I have one that is from Target and it's called wet-to-style and it's for that use.. but I NEVER do that.. It's completely damaging to your hair and i would never do it.. I got it for Christmas and thats the only reason I have one. they make your hair very thin and dead looking.. please please don't do these...they damage your hair and makes it nasty...tho it does work *my friend uses it* it just makes your hair look dead...

i have one it's called Wet 2 Straight Hair, its Remington brand i think, i got it from walmart and it is cheap and works good. but it can't be 2 wet or it won't work it as 2 be damp

straightening your hair while its wet is NOT good idea. it will give you split ends and give you major fly-aways
