It's def. a cut, and it might have some gel in it or some sort of spray to keep it so shiney. Also, it's straightened, which you will have to do like I do with mine since I have a bit of a wave. I would bring the pic. into a salon and have them do it, I bet they could do it perfectly :o)

Well, it looks like the haircut is sorta layered. My wife straightens her her with a hair iron. It takes quite a while, but her hair is curly and comes out straight.

It is a shag... if you have wave and want that exact look you will want to use a flat iron if a blowdryer won't pull out all of the wave. In order to get that chunky look, when it is dry, take a little fiber wax (a stiff, glue type cream) and rub your fingers together, then start just pulling pieces of hair with your fingers adding more product as needed. That piecy look is done with nothing but finger manipulation and product. It's very easy once you get the hang of it. When you get the cut done get the style too and have the stylist show you how.
