Can you use semi-permanent hair dye on fake hair extentions?

i know that using permanent hair dye on fake hair would ultimately ruin any synthetic hair piece.. but, temporary dye is much more mild. i currently have a bottle of manic panic pink hair dye (it's just a gel type that stays in for about a week, no harsh chemicals or fumes, ect.), and want to add a few streaks to a long hair extention piece to match my natural hair (the extentions are FAKE hair)

would it work, or ruin the extentions? anyone ever experiment with this kind of thing before?

answers would be really appreciated!! :)

No you can't, you will ruin it or it simply will not hold the color and it will blead out all over your hair and clothes when you wear them.

Demipermanent color works by placing color pigments on and under the cuticle of the hair (as opposed to permanent which changes the formation of color pigments inside), synthetic hair do not have the layers of cuticle like natural hair and because so it will not have anywhere to hold in the color.

My mate did that and hers turned out just barry. It worked quite well. Do only a section though I advise in case yours doesnt take as well as hers. That way if it does ruin the extension in any way the whole thing wont be trashed likesay?

Manic panic has no processing chemicals, it's just a color dye, so it won't ruin your extensions but it won't color them either. Your extensions don't have the ability to absorb the color like hair does because they are synthetic and don't have the cutical layers that absorb color. It'll just wash out.
