I have some straightner gel and I was going to put it in her hair and blow dry it straight. Will that mess her hair up more. She has VERY curly hair. And it is so dry.

You can't keep straightening her hair. You're trying to do something to it that it wasn't made to do.
First of all, if it's dry, you HAVE to oil her scalp. Use Hairrobics or light hair creme from Optimum. Secondly, you can't keep putting heat to it. If you're going to blow dry her hair straight (which should be straightend maybe once or twice a month with a flat iron), PLEASE wash and condition it first, dry it, then oil the scalp. The heat, plus the salt in her hair after she sweats will snap her hair off and make it look dry and unhealthy.
DO NOT, start perming your child's hair. This will only cause problems in the future and could possibly damage it. Perms are not good on everyone's hair.
P.S.
Certain gels can dry the hair and flake. Many of them have alcohol and/or water in them. I would suggest using Vonte' if you have to slick it back.

You need to relax the hair - that is the technical term. I don't know what you use to do it.

First, deep condition, even leave-in conditioner, then do the straightener gel and the blow-drying.

They have special products for hair like hers. I wouldn't suggest using the gel, you might break her hair. Give her a good deep conditioning treatment, and use a serum (john freida makes a good straightening serum) before blow-drying.

I answered a similar question just like this awhile ago. Mix hair is beauitful I can tell you that. I would not put straigthner gel in her hair. if her scalp and hair is dry it is best to oil it or greese it. you can get these materials from a beauty shop. ( Sallys or another beauty shop in ur area) put the mstiurizer on her scalp daily this will help the dryness and also the hair will stay strong. Also, if the curly hair needs to be straigthen then try a hair straigthner, ur proably going to have to go over the area alittle bit more than what you expect, but dont give up it usuall depends on how thick the hair is. Also I would only but straighthner gel in the hair when i want to wear the hair straight and WET. gel works best with that. I hope this information worked. and will help you. I have similar hair so understand ur question very well.

Don't straighten her hair! I am mixed and I hate perms, they just mess uo your hair a lot more. Plus I'm certain that because of them the front part of my hair has changed a bit, it dries up your hair and produces breakage because its so weak, which will eventually end up making her look like she's got an afro-mullet or something if she ever wears it natural.
Just deep condition and blow dry and flat iron. It may not last as long but her hair is mixed so realxing it isn't really necessary it will just mess it up.

In order to ensure that neither of you damage her hair any further than it is. TAKE HER TO A BLACK SALON! Black ppl and mixed ppl have similar hair texture. She can get her done properly and receive professional advice on daily haircare and the right products to use.
Relaxers/Perms aren't bad for you if you use the proper treatments, grease your scalp and take good care of your hair. My hair is permed and I know what i'm talking about. Whether or not you want to perm her hair is your decision, its not a bad idea necessarily as long as she is of an appropiate age to have chemicals in her hair.
Take her to a Black salon where you can speak one on one with a Black Beautician who knows how to both style and care for black hair. Make sure that she has won awards and has had her license for longer than a year. She will examine your daughter's hair and make recommendations.
In the meantime, until you find a salon- grease her scalp everyother day.
Wash her hair two times a week only.
Braid it and cover it with a satin scarf every night and let her sleep with it like that.
Do not blow dry so often- you will ruin her hair.
Do not use that gel.
The product lines I like the most are Optimum, Organic Root Stimulator and Mizani. Mizani does an amazing job.

She needs moisturizer in her hair. Try "Pink Moisturizer". Don't listen to the first guy about a relaxer....she's mixed. Have her twice a week use deep conditioner. When she washes her hair have her apply the pink moisturizer and use a hair protection such as Aveda damage control spray. That works wonders. It will protect from heat, damage in the air and keep it shiny. Good Luck!!! Aveda also has great products!!!
